Beautiful white Tara sitting on a lotus pedestal. The statue was handmade in Nepal from copper and bronze, then partially fire-gilded and the face was hand-painted.
White Tara is one of 21 Taras in Tibetan Buddhism. She is considered a loving female Buddha, the revealer of beauty and is revered as the mother of all Buddhas. As such, she embodies the maternal aspect of universal compassion. It symbolizes purity, wisdom and truth.
The right hand shows the generosity mudra. White Tara is called, also the "seven-eyed", which stands for the highest consciousness and the ability to recognize any suffering.
It protects against diseases and gives a long life.
